My husband and I frequent this restaurant often; we love the soups and the crepe. After reading these reviews I look forward to our next visit when I will try something new. The crepe is delicious and delicate. We learned that many of the dishes can be prepared vegetarian if requested!
Thang Long is a city in Viet Nam. I found this out from from Tony and his family as they serve thee best spring rolls in Sonoma county. Add an ice cold Tsing Tao beer and and some walnut shrimp and a finer lunch can not be found. The sticky rice and mango (seasonal) is also worth trying.
Great Crab, Banh Xeo (Vietnamese Crepes): The Crab special (whole crab with garlic) is a messy but very deliciously prepared dish. Thang Long has also been the only restaurant in the area serving the wonderful Vietnamese Crepe, Banh Xeo. The eggless crepe (made yellow with turmeric) is filled with shrimp, pork, scallions & bean sprouts. It is served with mounds of leaf lettuce, basil & other fresh herbs. To eat you tear of a strip of lettuce, wrap it around a bit of the crepe, add some fresh herbs & dip it all in a sweetened fish sauce. This dish is also on the specials list, but almost always available. Nothing I've tried from the regular menu has been exceptional. The Pho (Beef noodle soup in exotic anise infused broth) is mediocre. Atmosphere is plain, storefront - paper napkins, plastic like table tops. Service is adequate.
