Their beer was horribly flat. I complained and they said, "old lines"... That is a dissapointing and alarming excuse for such an "upper tier attitude" restaurant, as well as possibly allowing contamination. They gave me one for free and still charged for another. They even had a surcharge to leave potatoes off of my aunts plate!!! The food was ok at best. Portions were on the small side for the price. Ive had much better for much less.
We had a party of 11 for dinner on Saturday February 16th, 2008. The service was excellent. However the food left a great deal to be desired. The Onion Strings arrived luke warm and were very soggy. The entrees, Filet Mignons, Ribs, Sole, Duck, etc. were mediocre at best. The last straw involved a cake cutting charge of $50.00 for 10 slices of a Bundt cake baked by my daughter. There was no mention of the fee before or anywhere on the menu. I understand corkage and even a fee for cutting a cake, but this was outrageous. The bill with wine before the charge was $500.00. They have lost my business forever. If you want real dining experiences, eat in San Francisco.
Conflicted opinion on this favorite: Ok, so this used to be my can't miss destination in Marin. Great location, great food and drinks. Many memorable meals. But lately, the service has been lousy and the food has been hit and miss. Food first- was taught to judge a good restaurant by the soup. The soup is a very special dish for most chefs and usually the soup has been excellent at Buckeye but the last 2 times, it was downright Campbell like. Now the service has always been a bit snooty and you always need to schmooze the wait staff a bit to get attention. Last time I was there was no exception. But there was a shy couple next to us who were downright ignored and mistreated, I finally had to say something to my waiter and she begrudgingly stepped in. So if you go there, try the soup , the meats are always great. And assert yourself (or just order an expensive bottle).
