| About: | The food at Thep Lela would be a bargain at twice the price. It is meticulously prepared, flavorful and served gracefully by the cheerful wait staff. Amid intricately carved wood and murals of the Thai landscape, locals come here for great meals of mild or hot red, green and yellow curries, sweet and tangy barbecued pork, and a succulent boneless roasted duck spiced with anise. Daily specials change with the seasons, but usually include a superbly grilled fish selection. User Rating: 2 out of 5 starsIf you are a rich snob with money to blow on mediocre comfort food and don't have the ability to discern the difference between authentic Thai meals, this is your place! However, in my humble opinion, while the food was alright and the atmosphere not bad (which is the only reason it has two stars and not one) the staff was uptight, confused, and managed to ignore us half the night. There are plenty of better restaurants in San Rafael and San Francisco with half the price and even less with the annoying attitude.

With the four of us from the Netherlands we arrived at this well lit place. It was a good idea that one of us made reservations since almost all tables were occupied.
Eating here was a very pleasant experience. We all had different orders, light and not too spicy. Prices are moderate. Service is friendly.
We don't want to give a five star because .... one knife was broken and one appetizer was not available. But this was not a problem at all.!

My husband and I love this restaurant. Even when the owners moved to a larger setting, that didn't compromise the great food and setting. The owners are lovely too
