As a resident of Mill Valley I wanted to support my local mechanic, so I brought my sportbike to Bill at Quality Motorcycle Repair to have the front forks fixed (leaking with weak springs) and a saftey inspection. What I got was an absolute nightmare. Within 2 weeks of the repair the forks were leaking again, and he expected me to pay full price to have them fixed again. I let him know that was unacceptable and he needed to stand behind his work. He didn't like that idea at all, but he finally agreed to a price I thought was reasonable so I agreed to do the work with him- big mistake. When I got the bike back the second time after waiting 2.5 weeks, he clearly didn't give a darn about the bike. It was marred from what looked like pliers on the preload adjustment, other bolts were rounded off, and the battery was dead. His slopppy work cost me at least a few hundred bucks off the resale value of my bike, and who knows if my bike is even safe to ride.
The name of this repair shop is the opposite of what it should be: "Low- Quality Motorcycles."
If you need anymore evidence of the quality of his work just have a look at the bikes he keeps out front-
Don't take a nice bike to this shop!
I have taken everything from my 1150 GS to my Zuma scooter to Bill and have always felt that he did good work at an honest price. Although my bikes are more mainstream, I always see some interesting, usually older, bikes in his shop. He is not one to shy away from a challenge. Highly recommended.
I just recently visited Quality Motorcycles for the first time and could not be happier. I am new to the cycling world and don't really know the first thing about bike maintenance; and while most mechanics would have used this as an opportunity to take me for all I was worth, Bill turned it into an opportunity to teach me a few basic things about bike maintenance.
If you are looking for a superior mechanic who is honest, incredibly knowledgeable and offers a more than reasonable rate for service, you must visit Bill at Quality Motorcycles. He is a rare find!
