I was anxious to try this location because I am a long time fan of Scoma's in SF. I made reservations for my husband's bday 4 weeks ahead, checked in with the hostess 4 hrs before our reservation to ensure a nice table...and the matradee just overode the hostess and gave our table away to another party and then asked us to cram into the corner table...not happy...Angelino's across the street was wonderful!!
Ate here on our last night in the Bay Area. Superb views of the bay, bay bridge, alcatraz etc. Food was better than average, portions a little on the small size for men if you don't take an appetizer, but I just polished off what my wife left. Pasta was properly cooked (apparently a rarity in my experience) and correctly seasoned. However, service was abysmal, she really didn't want a tip; slow and rude. Shame, because it has everything going for it. Would get 4 stars if not for the service.
Had dinner here with my visiting NYC family. They wanted to eat here despite my protests and recommendations for other places. Well, I guess we all had our expectations fulfilled. They thought the dinner was good. I was pretty disappointed by everything that I ate. Nothing was fresh tasting. My salmon filet was big but flat flavored. Probably was Atlantic farm salmon complete with artificial red dye to add some color. Sides: pasty starches, flavorless potatoes. Mediocre dressing on Safeway quality Mesclun greens. I buried my sorrow with the overpriced supermarket level Napa valley wines. Service staff tries hard. It was a slow mid-week night and we were a 10-top who looked like we could afford a generous tip. My cousins gave them one. You come here for the waterfront view - No other reason.
