A typical Black Bear Diner. Good comfort food at good prices and OK service. Their breakfasts and dinners are huge.

Sat at the counter and waited 5 minutes for soemone to acknowledge me. Waitress finally came and handed me a menu and asked me if I wanted something to drink, I replied coffee. Never saw her again. I wound up walking out and going to the competition.

Oh yeah, there was no one else sitting at the counter. I've been here before but won't be back.

I'm local and hot and cold on this place. We have to send food back on a visit and then don't return for a long time and this has been going on since Black Bear opened (~6 years ago). The major problem we have is getting hot food. As an example, the time before last my husband told the waitress, "Make sure the potatoes are hot" and I guess she thought he was kidding. The beakfast potatoes came to the table lukewarm and not fully cooked (a bit hard inside). We had to send them back. The man at the table across from us sent back his pancakes. It was only the 2nd time we had eaten breakfast there because the first time the potatoes and the sausage were lukewarm.

On our last visit my husband said, "Make sure the food is hot. . .and I'm not kidding." He got a hot meal. Soups are often lukewarm. i don't know if it is a matter of cooks not cooking food to temp. or waitstaff not picking up the plates promptly.

Portion sizes are large. Waitstaff is friendly and attentive. The taste of the food is always good. Sometimes salads are so big you can't cut them up without spilling out onto the table; also labor intensive and time consuming for the customer; could be solved if they preped the lettuce pieces smaller.
