Comfortable, intimate jazz venue that features top quality talent. I first attended a concert there in the late 1970s and for some reason didn't return until 2003, but have returned several times since. Mose Allison twice, Brian Auger and Joey DeFrancesco plus a couple others.
want a true history show of jazz? this place is i: the kuumbwa has always been the west coast finest night club exclusive to the best jazz and other music i have ever heard. i played here more than 10 times, it was my favorite place to play. i learned a lot from the masters i was honored to preform with.i'll still go there and listen thru the door if i can't get in backstage -love it.the art collection on the walls alone is worth going to see.they have food deserts wine coffee beer- anything one would want, especially the music. santa cruz is lucky to have them here as a venue.i'd give them 7 stars if i could.
HIROMI: A genius! And there were the sounds of Amad Jamal...she maintained beginning at top speed and staying throughout. Thank goodness she did one long show instead of the usual two. Gave her the chance to build and develop...which she did masterfully. Thank you! Bring her back soon!.Coeleen Kiebert
