We had our Spanish Mother's 80th Birthday Party there recently. Veronica, Luis and Staff presented us with EXCELLENT service and hospitality. The food was excellent. The evening went smoothly and our mother was thrilled. This will be one birthday that she won't forget! Thanks, Maxtain Extea!
My friends and I had a wonderful lunch, the food was awesome. We sat outside, which was very peaceful. Will return as soon as possible. Keep up the great work. Thanks
We were wandering around San Juan Batista looking for a place to have lunch when we stumbled on this place. My one previous acquantance with Basque food was good so I looked at the menu and when I saw cow's tongue my mind was made up only it had to be for dinner as they did not open until 4pm.
About 7pm we went back and started to peruse the menu in more detail. It has the most peculiar pricing structure I have ever seen. The cows tongue was listed at $14 but for just $4 more I could get it family style. That included a bottle of the house wine (listed at $10 by itself on the menu), soup, rice, salad, fries, desert. If we had realized the size of the portions my friend and I could have shared an excellent dinner for (including wine and the house wine was decent) for less than $20. She ordered the Oxtail dinner, also excellent. The only disappointment had to do with me rather than the food. My memory of eating cows tongue (a frequent guest on my parents' dinner table) was that it was eaten unadorned and that it was delicious. Here it came smothered in a tomato sauce which, though delicious, buried the taste of the meat. They did offer a vinagarette option which I probably should have chosen.
Our only problem (or maybe it was just entertainment) was a customer having a long conversation out loud with himself.
