Oswald at the address on Pacific Ave closed more than a year ago and has now reopened at the corner of Front and Soquel. The new restaurant is not at all like the old one. It is bigger and louder with an active bar scene and without the quality art work. A number of dishes from the old menu are still listed, but after two visits I must say the quality of the food is nowhere near as good as it was at its previous location. Instead of a unique "cozy" bistro with the best food in Santa Cruz, the new Oswald is just one of a number of "in" places serving dishes with gourmet-sounding names and ordinary tastes. It's a shame. The old Oswald was a real gem.

One word: Excellent: I can not believe what a gem Oswald's is. It's by far the most wonderful restaurant in all of Santa Cruz. The hostess was pleasant and kind; the wait-staff was clear, sophisticated and helpful and the food was out of this world.
They have a great wine list and the ingredients are fresh and full of flavor. Yummy! I'd recommend this place to anyone!
Oh, and I almost forgot the desserts. Way yummy too!
