    Phils used to be fairly priced for the portions, but in the last few years, his prices have gone thru the roof...Prices are equal to fine dining restaurants with ambience, good service, etc. this is just a walkup place, no service, no ambience, no nothing and the prices are outrages and the servings have shrunk extensively. don't bother.

    Another hidden gem close to the Monterey area (about 20 minutes north)--I make the trip at least once or twice a month now.

    This place is loud and crowded, but the food is ALWAYS great and comes out surprisingly fast. Just about everything Ive eaten has been first class. Large selection of beer--great place for loud kids (no one will be able to hear them) and a very fun atmosphere.

    Instead of staying in Hollister during the bike rally, we hit the road and landed at Phil's. The place was crazy busy. It is what it is...very casual, seat yourself and get your own napkins. The food was sOo good and fresh. Fish normally isn't my favorite but this was sOo good I couldn't help myself. It made the ride over worth it!!! I shaLL return........:o)
