I went to this gym for 5 months as I stayed in San Jose for job training. Well this gym is good because of the location. Its smack dab in the middle of san jose and overlooks the main tourist area of downtown however this particular Ballys is Very small. Probably the smallest ballys out of the 3 I have been to so far. Down stairs is some cardio equipment, a gymnasium, and a cool boxing area which i enjoyed alot. Upstairs is more cardio lockers and free weight and machines.
This bally has a new interior design which looks nice I rather have a larger gym with more variety of machines. Another interesting point is the gym is right next to San Jose State College so you can often see some of the students there too.
Over all gym is ok, no shining star. Has the necessities so it works.
great thai in a great location: Right downtown in the middle of all the activity, but inside it feels like a calm oasis. House of Siam has an elegant Thai-style setting & delicious Thai food. The menu includes all the classic curries, pad thai, etc., & you can ask for any level of spice (I like it hot!). The service is attentive, if reserved. Some nights there is very nice live music.
My Favorite Thai Place in San Jose: In the city of San Jose, there is no other Thai place I'd rather go. Not to be confused with the House of Siam (same name) two blocks over on Market, this House is more gracious and at ease. As soon as you enter the door, you're greeted with a prompt and friendly smile.
No matter what else I order, I simply must have the Tom Ka Gai (coconut milk chicken soup with a spicy kick). Other favorites include Larb, (a spicy ground chicken salad with shredded lettuce and peanuts), and any of the curries. The menu is extensive, and offers something for everyone, ranging from spicy, which I love, to mild.
My friends and I have chosen House of Siam as our favorite dining spot before enjoying our season tickets at the San Jose Reportory Theater. We arrive around 6:30, and enjoy a leisurely dinner before the 8 pm show. Every now and then, the service is a bit slow, but the staff are always welcoming and polite.
