Called to plan a childs birthday party and found the gentleman who answered the phone to be rude and not willing to offer assistance. Just answered "no, can't do that". Have also been there several times and many times the lanes weren't working or other amenities (black light bowling) wasn't working. Also, while bowling when in need of service, we found ourselves "forgotten" and had to ask several different people to get even one to help with a broken gutter or ball that was stuck behind the pins. Not the best bowling experience.
I went here as part of a work group offsite, and it was pretty empty on a Thursday afternoon. Besides us, there were only a few clusters of kids playing around.
Overall, it's not very much like the bowling alleys I've been to before. They're trying to be all slick, instead of being cozy in that rundown sort of way. They have a whole system for you to go through, starting at the main counter inside the door. Then you are directed to get your ball and shoes at the same counter. The interior is pretty dim, with music videos and other lights flashing all around you. Kind of slick looking, but strange for a bowling alley.
We ordered food when we got there, and it arrived within a decent amount of time, served right at our lane. The food itself was just ok, much like the sort of food you'd get at a TGI Friday's, but maybe of a slightly lower quality. The service was ok at least.
In terms of bowling, the equipment seemed fine, but none of us did all that well playing. I think the huge music videos were much too distracting for most of the people in my group, especially when they kept playing some old (and depressing) Jackson songs from the early 90s. How many times do we really need to see the Michael Jackson video with the historic footage, while trying to have fun bowling?! Seeing those shots of the Nazis and starving children didn't really set a good mood.
The final annoyance was the lane cleaning, which happened right in the middle of our last game. Sure, it was pretty empty, but having to stop playing and wait for our lane to be cleaned was kind of lame.
I didn't pay for this outing myself, but I know it wasn't cheap. They charge you $5 extra just for shoe rental, so that tells you what you're dealing with.
I guess I can say that 300 was amusing to go to once, with someone else paying, but I'm not sure I'd rush back the next time I want to go bowling. Maybe I would have enjoyed it more had I been drinking ;) Ah well. I think next time I'll check out one of the other alleys in the area.
After a re-model it's a really great place to take a family during the days or early in the evenings. There is lots of entertainment beyond just bowling for all members of the family. There is food service and a full bar and lounge for just hanging out if you don't want to bowl. Late nights on weekends they have "cosmic bowling" with black lights, music, and videos, fun for all involved.
They have a full league program and the equipment is very new resulting in less beat up equipment for the bowler that has their own balls.
