OK, I am not a fan of the bartender but the music.... I came in on a Sunday afternoon for the Jam and it was really good. There was a house band, I think the leader was Oliver but later in the day I saw a familiar face and it turns out a guitarist I had seen with Paul Butterfield walks in an blows me away. His name was Don "Chilly" Chilcott. It turns out I had seen him with George Harmonica Smith too, down in LA. You never know who might show up for the Jam, it was really fun. Thank You. Gary C
I love this place!!
Its got that FUN feeling...... Pics of alll the greatest Blues legends encompass the walls, the people are friendly and they got this AWESOME back room where you can kick back on the leather couches and drink with your buddies, that home style feeling!!
2 bands twice a night EVERY DAY!! how cool is that!
come check it out! I go there all the time!
JJ's is the epitome of the term "Joint", a small establishment, narrow front, deep, commercial space in an old shopping strip. The bar is smack dab in the middle of the wall, and it's narrows further, creating a hassle getting back and forth from front to rear. They have a lounge area in back which has some old couches and chairs. It's part of the back of the pizza joint who moved next door. You cant see the stage! So the live feed is projected on the wall and door. It's stanky, well worn restrooms may or may not have paper products. Lots of wear and tear, ceiling fans don't all work, the ventilation is awful. Complete with a too small dance floor, a cramped stage, a beat up pool table with busted up sticks. Music is a crapshoot so check your calendar, once they advertised Cheryl Crow and Amy Lou's Blues played instead. Friendly help, and most patrons are also. A San Jose legend, needs a makeover.

I went there Friday 11.12 and let me tell you Amy Lou's Blues Band NEED NOT EVER sing a Susan Tedeschi again. Doesn't have the voice for it. It was the epitome of "dive" in my honest opinion. I understand when Coco Montoya plays then YES i'll visit again. But the atmosphere was very dank.
