    We eat at Viva about once a week. Recently, we invited some friends to go with us. We were seated near a large party that was celebrating a Birthday and they were quite loud. We were having trouble hearing our conversation because of the party next to us. We did not want to make a fuss so we just resigned to speaking louder. The manager must have noticed this because he came over and asked us if we wanted to move to a quieter table even after we had already had drinks and bread delivered to our table. We took him up on the offer. The manager did this just because he noticed us, not because we asked or complained. This went beyond the call of duty. This is service you don't find at many places.

    Viva also has an outdoor patio that is dog friendly so we take our dog there a lot. The food is always good, plentiful servings, prices are reasonable even on premium wines by the glass. The only negative comment I have is the deserts are common. :) I go out to eat just for the deserts so I'm a little snobby on this topic. Their signature creamy current carrot soup is awesome and a local favorite. They have a wonderful jazz trio that plays Fridays and Saturdays that adds so much to the ambiance. Good job Viva! You will need a reservation on a weekend even in this economic down-turn they are still booming. Glad to see the good business's rewarded for offering good service.

    DO NOT TRY FAMILY STYLE DINNING AT VIVA.
    I was very disappointed in Viva restaurant after I had a family style dinning with my friends back to June. I picked this place, because it looked good on website in addition to some reviews I read... belive it or not, but this is my first (and I hope the last) bad review. Bruschetta starter was horrible... we almost broak our teeth. Family Style Dining menu was so poor and way to far from the places who offer similar family style. Poorly served plate looked terrible... no presentation, no taste and all that for $30 per person. I wouldn't recommend this place (although its located in a beatiful Los Gatos) and will never, ever come again. Yeah, last thing... you should see at Dessert Sampler, sigh... they brougth them all on one plate with already melted chocolate and ice cream.
    Enough said - just be careful...

    Viva's has good food at a reasonable price. I like their pasta, steak and chicken dishes. They also have good salads and desserts. Recently, they added a "take out" menu, and it is convenient on weeknights!

    I like to order a nice glass of red wine with dinner and it costs much less than some of the other restaurants in Los Gatos!

    The scenery is nice at Viva's. There are usually a few "cougars" in the bar area to add to the ambiance.

    Overall, I give Viva's 4 and a half stars!
