I was on business in Merced. Never been there before. I mapped up a couple of likely spots for lunch, rolled the dice and wound up at Mi Casa.
I've never had a Mexican buffet, so I filled up a plate, sat down and tucked in. Chile Relleno(in the correct sauce), beef enchilada, taquitos, chimighangas, and all my favorites laid out fresh and hot. Some terrific pork soup, and even a respectable salad bar and dessert table.
It was not pretty. Other diners gasped and shielded their children from the carnage. An old woman clutched her chest.I couldn't help myself. I ate like it was my last meal, and it may have been. I'm telling you, the sauces and seasonings were perfect.Glass after glass of fresh, icy iced tea washed down heaping samples of everything offered...and seconds of some. I knew it was wrong, and I gorged on the shame of it.
Then, the REAL horror dawned on me, as I struggled to buckle my seat belt: How the Hell would I justify the 200 mile round trip for lunch tomorrow?
Now I sit by myself, wishing I could be so lucky as to live in Merced.
Seriously, the place is clean, friendly and family run. It's CalMex at its best. Go, at once.
I was born in Mexico and I know Mexican food,And I love to eat at this restaurant,home-made beans, chile rellenos etc. even the fried chicken is better than the Colonels.Best buffet in the Valley.FYI the kitchen staff is from mexico and they brought thier recipes with them."VIVA MI CASA CAFE"
Food like my grandmother made. The buffet is great and a good price too! I would eat there every day if I could!
