Location: A previous diner implied that the location is questionable. It is next to the freeway but there is nothing worrisome about it. There is a beautiful walkway along the creek that puts you downtown in 4 minutes. It is across the street from the Railroad Square section, which is a revitalized downtown area. A downtown mall is also four minutes away walking. It is a great location!
Seafood Brasserie: This restaurant is located in a hotel, and it is next to Railroad Square and the highway, so it is not located in the best part of town. However, the main dining room is mainly boothed and very soothing (stained glass lighting and brown/yellow colors), and the food is great. The bar area is too dark, and it has horrible acoustics. You can't hear anyone in the bar. However, the happy hour specials are terrific, and the food is high quality and inexpensive. Crab, mango and avocado salad is $6, and well prepared, with a watercress garnish. The fish entrees are uniformly good. Their crab louie is worth a try.
Happy hour specials include tomato and goat cheese galette ($2.95), and their frites come in a pint glass and are not soggy. The oysters aren't so good.
The wine selection is just okay, but the food is inexpensive and wonderful.
