Disappointed in Deli/Bakery Customer Service: My family and I have been customers for over 17 years. I wanted to buy some macaroni and potato salad from the deli area and noticed that most of the dates on the packages were past the selling date, example: Sell by July 17. Today is the 24th of July. Anyhow, I was greeted and then I explained that most of the packages were past due. The employee (was anglo-saxon looking) explained to me that it is packaged, so it has a longer "Shelf Life". I then smiled and nodded kindly and walked away. I was okay with the fact that she gave me that response about the "Shelf Life" but then she insultingly chuckeled and gave me a dirty look when I was walking away. I am a professional and I work with professionals for a living in Marketing and Sales, and didn't expect such behavior from a culinary representative. My family and I love Save Mart because of the clean and inviting atmosphere. I went across town to a Railey's to buy my salads and I was never more satisfied with the customer service and fresh product.
Word of advice, no one wants to by milk after the "sell by" date has expired or passed. Also if it does have a Longer "Shelf Life" then why are they dated? Don't scare your customers with old dates and products, discount them for being old, or get rid of them. No one wants a seven day or even a ten day old salad. These salads are probably older than that anyway because packaging happens days before they are dated. Wow!!! Customer service should be a priority to ALL Save Mart Representatives especially the culinary representative with a chip on her shoulder. My family and I have been loyal to the Deli for a long time as well as the produce section. My experience has made me now loyal customer to Raley's.
Sincerely,
Disappointed
