Excellent customer service. Knew it was going to be a nice place but the room and location exceeded all expectations. Wonderful furnishings, lighting and a great size. The fireplace was a joy. Well priced and a perfect spot as a retreat from the city. Didn't feel like they were trying to bleed money from you for the little luxuries which make a stay like this so special.

We arrived later than expected, missing our dinner reservation. Thinking we were stuck with a sandwich from a gas station up the road, they were very understanding and provided us with phenomenal room service which laid the foundation for a wedding proposal later that evening. The staff were warm and helpful, the spa massage, (we had the couples massage one) was unbelievable and we left feeling like we'd been away for a week, not a single night.

Worth the three hours from SF.

Beautiful large rooms with nice views, high ceilings & fireplaces - although the four our group occupied were all rather stale until aired out. Windows open, so after a day or two they were more pleasant. At dinner the first night, the waiter offered to have the chef prepare a special local fare oriented feast for us the next night and promised to get back to us to tell us what was available - including potentially: local mushrooms, sea urchin, wild locally harvested greens and berries among other things. But we never heard from anyone about it again. Another waiter at breakfast was very awkward, knocked the vase on our table over twice - spilling water all over - both times grabbing our napkins to control the spill. No substitutions were available at breakfast. As other reviewers mentioned, the lack of any counter in the bathrooms was inconvenient. In the spa, the tiny treatment rooms were stale. Something in the facial room had several of us sneezing & eyes watering during our facial. Specific body treatments we'd scheduled were changed to different types of treatments - without our being informed, presumably, when a particular type of body worker wasn't available. For example, a Cranio Sacral session might be changed to a Reiki session without our having agreed to the change. Bodyworkers there seemed to have little training beyond basic massage school certification. The Cranialsacral therapist, for example, had taken a few hour introductory class and thought it was just a laying on of hands or energy type treatment. She had no knowledge of even the most basic cranio sacral therapy techniques. Does beg the question - did Stevenswood grant itself the 'Five Star Spa'
    rating?

Beautiful Lodge bordering forests & with a view in the distance of the coast. Rooms are spacious. While the modern free standing basins in the bathroom are attractive, we found the lack of any counter space inconvenient. The staff is either too small in number, or perhaps just too disorganized to provide solutions to simple problems that arise. For example, we requested a second key at check in. The concierge told us he'd locate one. An hour later we again requested a key and were told the previous guest kept the second key to our room. There was only one key available for our room, and, as we found out later, the front desk closes fairly early. There is a sign with a phone number to call 'in emergency'. Since I was there on business & my husband was there visiting friends, our differing schedules made the key situation unacceptable. Knowing that the previous guest still had a key to our room and that no one was on staff a night was discomforting as well. Despite notifying several of the staff about the inconvenience, noone at the Inn ever bothered to have a copy made for us.
We were told the chef could handle special requests & dietary needs. However, at breakfast, no substitutions
were available. My lactose intolerant husband had requested soy milk prior to our arrival and while it was available on the first day, it was not for the following four. We purchased soymilk to keep in our room fridge, but when, at the request of the management, we were moved to another room, and despite leaving a reminder note on our luggage, the soymilk and my husband's medication were misplaced by the staff. Many things in the room weren't working - the closet light, one of the lamps beside the bed, the espresso machine, the flashlight in the closet. The shower water temperature in our first room varied from extremely hot to very cold without warning - although this didn't occur in our second room upstairs. I do hope they hire a hospitality and efficiency consultant. It's a beautiful property with great potential.

I had similar experience. Loved the location, but service was often inept, disorganized & slow. We never did get anyone to help carry our luggage upstairs (there's no elevator)! Room Refrigerator was very noisy, shower hot & cold, espresso machine leaked out two cups full of lukewarm coffee, turndown service inconsistent - sometimes little mats with house slippers were placed on both sides of our bed, sometimes only one side & sometimes not at all. The Mgr gave several tours to prospective future guests & spoke in an overly loud voice just outside our door - until we finally opened the door and asked if he could continue elsewhere. The staff seemed to have no idea of how much their voices carried - and how disruptive it could be an inopportune hours when guests were relaxing in rooms!
