I just moved here to the North Coast and the first place I had dinner was the Rivers End. I found the hostess the bartender the wait staff and the kitchen staff to be very friendly and attentive. I found the Proprietor Bert to be exceptionally friendly and engaging. I had the wild mushroom soup and the crab cakes for an appetizer with a very good vodka martini. I followed with the Elk steak dinner with a Rincon Vally Cabernet. For dessert I had the the creambrule with a Remy Martin. I have never been in any restaurant around the world when you could not say something needed salt or this was missing something and my experience was everything was perfect. So good in fact I have been there six times in 4 months. Now that first meal was $300 by myself with a 20% tip but the Wine was their top cab at $170 a bottle so since then my dinners have been much more affordable and the same quality every time. The Elk steak was around $50 worth every penny every time but most other plates are around $25 for a great beef fillet or seafood plate. There crab sampler is so good it should be against the law. All said in this economy If the place can not provide great food and unless it is of the highest kind of satisfaction (you know what I mean by food euphoria if you like good food.) I have no time for the establishment. The Rivers End is not one of those places. Good and worth it every time. Makes me wonder how much the other two reviews know about food!
I have been to Sonoma County and the city of Jenner. I'v dined there with my children and future Son-in-Law. Sometime back in 2002 on our family vacation. It was a very interesting time. We injoyed our stay there at the Rivers End cabins, and Loved the Restaurant! Just to let you know the Proprietor is my Nephew! "yup" that's right! We hope to revisit again someday! Thanks Lucille A. In reading the other reviews on this site I wondered if we had actually been to the same restaurant. We ate there last night and would never go back. Arrogant front-of-the-house staff, mediocre food, dated decor, and veeeerry overpriced. Obviously living off the view. We had reservations and had to wait 45 minutes to be seated though there were many empty tables. Wait staff plopped down the food and never came back except to find out if we wanted dessert. We live in wine country and have experienced truly fabulous dining so this joint just doesn't compare. Go to the coast and take in the view then drive back to Healdsburg or Santa Rosa and have a really good dining experience.
