My husband and I recently were there on vacation and came across Taqueria Ricarda's when we were searching for a place for dinner.
It was a very small restaurant...nothing fancy, but we were so impressed with the food. My husband ordered the carnitas, and I ordered the super burrito with special sauce. Let me tell you, it was the best burrito I ever ate. My husband said the carnitas were fantastic.
We may just have to travel to Ft. Bragg again soon, if only to eat there again!
I love to go to Ricarda's! When you need some great Mexican food, or some good comfort food, you get a great plate (home-made chips and great salsa "a given"), friendly home-like service, great atmosphere and a reasonable price. I always feel happy afterwards. I drink a Jarritos Tamarindo and usually have a combination plate. Everything is good. I always leave a good tip.
homemade burrito value in north beach mendocino: I don't know anything about this place except for my first impressions one evening, but I do have to recommend it.
We happened on this small Fort Bragg, California restaurant by happenstance. We had to get some clothes washed during a road trip, and stopped at the (only one in town?) laundromat across from this restaurant. While the clothes sloshed and tossed, we stopped by.
We come from San Antonio, so we have been to a mexican restaurant or two. I'm not sure if they call this Mexican or not, but it's definitely has "south of the border" influences. The menu lists a large variety of burritos, with some options of sour cream, cheese, and a "secret sauce" In any case, even with the highest option, the cost was only a dollar or so more, and totalling under Seven Dollars. That looked like the ticket for the two adults, getting marinated pork for one and carne asada for the other, my teen bought two crispy beef tacos for $2.50 each. We also ordered a big bowl of guacamole, for $3. Water is not in a glass, but in a plastic bottle, so you might as well get the bottled, imported orange drink, or tea or Pepsi in a glass bottle - or all of those get you to nearly the price of a cerveza, about $3. In any case, it was good food, and filling for the low cost.
The dinner plates were about $8.50, and I can't say if those are a good value or not.
This had the earmarks of a "find". It seemed to have quite a few anglos, and some children (which I was kind of happy to see when I was taking my family in - it has the appearance of a cantina which might look like it has a rough crowd, but just forget the appearance and order up.)
