Sorry to be the odd person out on this place but our meal here was awful. If we had only ordered one or two things I would maybe think we just hit the place on an off night but we ordered starters, mains and desserts. And they ranged from just ok to really awful. We had crab stuffed mushrooms to start and the crab was so off that the starter was inedible. I had the gnocchi that was like glue pellets in an overly salted sauce (and I like salty!). My husband had a nice calamari steak that would have maybe been good but again, drowning in a thick, over salted sauce. The tiramisu was ok. However, our server was very pleasant and professional. The owners seemed sincere and nice enough except that they spent almost our entire meal about three tables away talking loudly with each other and to the one other couple who were there besides my husband and myself. The couple kept answering in very terse answers which seemed to me that they were saying, please leave us alone and let us eat! The prices were outrageous for the quality of food. What we paid would have bought us a great dinner at Santi in Geyserville or many places in Healdsburg.
We love to support local business by shopping and eating local but just can't do it for this place. And the decor is just hideous, which if the food and other things were going on you could easily overlook and even think, how quaint!...I wish so much our experience had been otherwise. After reading reviews we were really looking forward to this place and hoping we could have a great little local place to dine. Sorry but very disappointing meal.
Wow! The food was fabulous! I went with my Aunt and Uncle Before heading on to a concert and wasn't expecting much more than Overpriced food... This was anything but! The Prawns were huge, served in a rich creamy sauce and I have no idea how they cooked the purple cabbage but it was like nothing I have ever tasted. This is Italian at it's best and I plan to take my daughter for her 20th birthday.
My wife and I live only a few blocks from this seemingly undiscovered wonder of the culinary world. The couple that own and operate this gem exceed our very high expectations of what customer service should be. And the food, oh my goodness don't get me started! We have spent three times as much on cuisine that was half as delectable. This has become our favorite restaurant anywhere, hands down. It has become a new thing for me to tell my servers to "surprise me" when they come to take my order and when I did this at Piacere I was truly surprised. I am one of the strange people who doesn't like seafood but when they set a plate of scallops, muscles, shrimp, and the like in front of me I kept an open mind. WOW!!! I still don't care for seafood unless it comes from the very able hands of Jose(the chef at Piacere). If you live out of the area it's worth the drive. If you live in the area, what are you waiting for? If you live in town, you already know what I'm talking about.

Jose has informed me that he caramelizes the cabbage in sugar or honey or something like that. They really are something though, aren't they?
