Cute little place in Crescent City Harbor, if you get a chance check out the sea lions. I had the Cheddar Glazed Tenderloin Steak and Shrimp Scampi, absolutely loved it. Kind of pricey, but was definitely worth it!

We reserved a table for 6 for my mother birthday. Living here in town, I have heard so many good things about this place, we decided to try it. When we arrived the table was set and ready, a good sign; unfortunately the rest of the dinner was a disaster. I was seated in a corner, partially under a bar that is sticking out over the table. I was expecting a gourmet restaurant, yet the place setting was primitive, and the chairs uncomfortable. I tried to order several items, just to be told that "we don't have that anymore." The menu was obviously outdated, so I tried the Filet. The rest of the table had various seafoods and steaks also. The salad was a fresh green salad, not at all bad, but was served on plates that looked like they came out of the dollar store. The drinks were served in beer glasses with logo's of beer that the owner did not have. The dinner came quickly and was shoved infront of us without any real presentation. When we asked for the bread, the owner looked at us like we were bothering him. When we asked for butter, he did not even acknowledge us, he just simply went to another table and took the butter, handed it to me and walked off without a word. The meal itself was pitiful. With the exception of my sons' shrimp taco's, the rest of the meals were woefully inadequate. My Filet tasted like it had been cooked last week, then soaked in butter as a preservative. The clam chowder my wife ordered had less clams in it than anything you can buy at red lobster. The fish was not overly breaded, a nice suprise, but my wife said it was so dry, it was more of a gourmet jerkey. I don't expect perfection, especially on our small community, had the service been cheerful, I would not be here writing this. The bad food, coupled with the feeling that we were bothering the owner everytime we asked him a question or for items that were supposed to come with the meal, made for the worse experience I have had at a much hyped restaurant. My suggestions are that he revises the menu to reflect his offerings, and then either improve the food and presentation, or put in a drive-thru.

We ate at Bistro Gardens on a Monday evening. I had the filet mignon steak and my husband had the black bean soup and the ceasar salad. It was a terrible meal. I don't know if the regular chef was not there or what but my suggestion is that they get rid of the fellow who was doing the cooking. Although I don't know how they could improve the salad which was iceberg lettuce with a dressing. Needless to say we won't be returning though we do eat out frequently.

Try eating there on any night other than Sunday or Monday.

So they're only required to be good 5 days per week and allowed to suck on the other two? Noted.

Agreed Mike, we went on Wednesday, so that makes 3 days of failure per week. Maybe he should publish a schedule of when he plans to suck.
