WARNING! IF YOU USE AUBURN BOOT & SHOE REPAIR, YOU MAYBE REALLY SORRY.
I used this shoe service for a minor shoe stretching. He claims he has been in business of about 40 years so I felt comfortable with the man.
I purchased a leather jacket that needed the sleeves shortened. I contacted a leather person who said that she was 3 months out on her work and since it was an âeasyâ fix that I contact a she repair person.
I contacted Auburn Boot & Shoe Repair. The owner said no problem to fix the jacket he did this sort of work all the time.
When I got the jacket back I was so shocked! I could have done a better job hemming the sleeves. In fact a 7 year old could have done better.
1) The sleeves were not the same length
2) The lining on one of the sleeves was shorter than the outside leather sleeves so the leather sleeve gapped when worn
3) The hem was about 1/8th inch..........not the usual 1 to 1/2 inch. It was glue unevenly and top stitched over the top of the sleeve. The top stitching was crooked and messy.
4) The hem was an uneven 1/8th inch. Some areas were larger and some smaller
Basically, the man ruined a 300.00 Jacket. His comment to me was âI did the best I couldâ
Frankly, the store smell heavily of glue....maybe he has smelled it for 40 years and has damage his thinking!
What a nightmare!!: I dropped off a brand new pair of shoes to get stretch on April 29th. I instructed the owner that I want my new shoes stretched on the top. He replied "that's usually where all shoes are stretched". He said they would be ready the next Thursday. I went to pick them up on the following Saturday, May 5th, and the store was closed. My husband went back the following Tuesday, May 8th, with the claim ticket in hand, and the owner could not find my shoes. He told my husband "that they wouldn't be ready anyway" he also hold him to come back the next day. When my husband went back the following day, the store again was closed. He went back on Friday, May 11th, and again the owner could not find them. The husband left, but before he got in the car, the owner came out the door with my shoes. My husband paid the shop owner the $10.00. When I tried the shoes on, they had not been stretched; they fit exacty the same as they did before I brought them in. I looked at the shoes closer, and noticed that the heals had been replaced on my brand new shoes that had never been worn. I did not get what I paid for and I would never go back to this shoe repair.
