I'm not one to trash anyone unfairly, yet at the risk of doing it, here it is. This place WAS once a good place to eat said by many long time locals. this was many, many years ago when there was actually mill workers that ate here. No offense to anyone, but the Samoa Cookhouse is a "hog-trough". You'd better have a cast iron stomach for canned vegetables, and pasty gravies over questionable meats. This place makes hospital cafeteria's food seem like close competitor. Undoubtedly, many people continue seek this old "tourist stop" by word of mouth, but I think this be from someone's memories long ago! One redeeming item is the white bread that is baked daily. Thank god for the white bread or you'd starve!...Sorry
Home baked bread, crisp salad, terrific iced tea, the veggies are always good, and the meat, likewise. It's just good old school food, you eat family style, and as much as you want. You share a picnic table with other diners, which might bug some people, but that is how the lumberjacks ate, back when it was their cookhouse. There is a museum connected to the dining room, and a couple of large rooms for private parties.
hometown food: good old style country food, eat until you cant eat no more, the chicken is my favorite
