I came here multiple times because of the service, quality of food and friendliness of the staff. I have tried other tea houses and found them lacking in ambiance and quality of food compared to our little shop in Newcastle. I'm shocked by any of the negative reviews.
Sadly, it was closed so the owner could focus on her family. It will be missed!!!
You can still order tea supplies online, but that's all. :(
I was excited to have my baby shower at An Afternoon to Remember and had always wanted to go there. So I had a little get together with "moms" for my baby shower. I had confirmed my reservation of 9 people online 2 days prior and I received no email notification back. I got a final headcount of 7 and gave ample notice, this time calling the establishment. I told the person I talked to my name, and that my event was downsizing from 9 to 7 people. She then told me that there was another event going on with a lady who had the same first name as me. Right then and there they should have checked my reservation because the tea parlor double booked my baby shower! So needless to say when we arrived the next day, I realized what happened and mentioned it to our server. She flipped out and started yelling at me in front of other customers. I felt humiliated and embarrassed and I was near tears. We ended up not having to pay for the other "table" that our group was booked at because we only had the savory tea and nothing special had been prepared for us. I kept trying to have fun and enjoy myself, but inside I felt like awful after being yelled at and I tried to keep a smile on my face. The reason I am giving this place only one star is not only for the way I was treated, but also for the price of the savory tea. There should have been at least one more item on our plates in addition to the tiny cup of soup, a small slice of quiche and a scone. I contacted the owner of this establishment and let her know my experience. Hopefully the employee learns from this and does not treat people this way in the future.
I came here with a group of ladies. One had made the reservations for 9 ladies and ordered 6 light teas. I personally didn't want that and was going to get the savory tea. So she had forgotten to call back the night before to confirm. And on tea day 2 ladies weren't able to make it due to illness. The lady there said because we didn't "confirm" she has us down for 9 FULL teas!! First off we didn't even order any full teas. And we can't help it that our two lady friends fell ill??? The head lady said the meals are already made. (What a rip off!)So we all were forced to have FULL teas. I didn't want to spend that much on tea food! I wanted to have leftover to buy some tea leaves or what at the gift shop. But because of this I wasn't able to get anything. I was angry the rest of the day. And I know our friend was upset at herself for having everyone spend so much. Some of us can't afford such meals. So everyone got to spend $28.00 each including tax and tip. Why the heck should I give them a tip if they ripped us off? Sorry for venting. I know I will not go back there again.

I know I said I gave it one star, but I ended up giving it 2 stars.
