We went there last night for my daughter's birthday. We ordered pot stickers, egg rolls, sizzling rice soup, Hunan tofu, Szechuan beef and crispy salty duck. The egg rolls and pot stickers were really good. They were crispy and tasty. The sizzling rice soup was hot and tasty too. The crispy salty duck was up to the standard. The Szechuan beef was a little too sweet for our liking. My daughter was disappointed about the Hunan tofu because it was not cooked the way she expected. The Hunan tofu we tried at a differenet restaurant were soft inside and slightly crispy on the outside. The Hunan tofu here were fried tofu so it was kind of hard. The service was good.
I came across Noodle Express while on a business trip in 1998. Anytime I am in the Sacramento area I eat here. My wife and I love the food and have never had anything that wasn't fabulous. Our favorites the pot stickers, Lemon Chicken, BBQ Pork egg foo young & all the chow mein dishes. The lemon sauce for the Lemon Chicken is unbelievable and the aroma is fantastic.
This is the best Chinese restaurant in the Sacramento area IMHO. Nothing fancy, just excellent inexpensive food.
My Family loves Noodle Express. We live 40 minutes away and there are times we'll just drive up for the food. Anytime we're passing through Davis near dinner time we'll stop at Noodle Express. With a family of 4 it only runs about $30 not including a tip. Usually over time the quality and service will decline at most places we at, but this has not happened at Noodle Express in the last 3 years or so.
Highly Recommended.
