Copper-colored kettles and huge circular structured seats make up the decor. The ambiance is very unruly, with noise levels touching the top of the decibel chart! The food is all German and you should give the sausages, burgers and sandwiches a try. While you're in the lobby gulping the food down, walk over to the bar for some exquisite Sudwerk beer. All the beer is brewed in accordance with Reinheitsgebotthe German purity law. It can get boisterous in here, but that's the fun of it all!

My family and I ate here one night and I thought the food was great. We ordered some garlic fries to share and they were fantastic! I had the clam chowder and enjoyed it. I am a bit of a crowder snob and usually don't like what other places serve. My kids and husband all had burgers and they seemed to enjoy them. Overall the food was great and we were happy with what we got.
Not like it use to be service was bad quality of the food was so bad not worth a buck. Mid day ordered a artchoke with a basil cream sauce they ran out servered it with cold butter. Tri tip sandwich, well we had to look for the meat through the fat. Crab cakes with no crab and cold. Enough said. Pass on by
I've been going to Sudwerk on and off for many years. A recent ownership change brought a revised menu, although many favorites are still included. I returned about 3 months ago after not having been there for over a year and a half. The food was very good before and is still very good, based on about a half dozen recent visits. I've had their tri-tip salad, bar-b-que pork ribs, Cobb salad (both the standard grilled chicken plus a seafood version), the appetizer sampler platter, fried calamari "appetizer" (the portion is humongous, actually a meal for two!), and the basic burger & fries. All have been very good & plentiful. The service is friendly & efficient. The ambience is pleasant for individuals and groups, both small and large. There is a spacious outdoor dining/beer garden that is very pleasant during the warm seasons. The only drawback is a location that is a bit difficult to find if you are not familiar with Davis. But once you've found it, you'll find it again!
