I put off getting my ac fixed until I just couldn't take it any more. Driving on the freeway was tolerable using 455 (four windows down and 55 miles an hour), but on the streets, every stoplight was just another level of Dante's Inferno.
My girlfriend nagged me into trying her mechanic. I didn't really "have" a mechanic. When my car breaks down, whichever repair shop is closest, hey, THAT's "my" mechanic. So I show up at the garage, thinking it's going to cost an arm and a leg to get the ac working, I'll tell her what it would cost, and she'll nod knowingly and I won't have spent anything. I'll still be miserable and sweaty, but I won't be six hundred dollars in the hole.
Turns out that all I needed was some freon and a servicing. Less than $140 and only had to wait 90 minutes. Hoooorah! I'm riding in style with the ac set on "Arctic". I don't usually write reviews, but these guys deserve some major props. The only downside is that now I have to listen to Cindy saying "See? I was right... AGAIN!"
As a woman of 50+ I've had to put my guard up with mechanics who have tried to over charge me over the years. When seeking a new shop I always use the need for a smog test to check out a the integrity of the operation. This is where a lot of women are overcharged trying to get their car in compliance for registration. Some shops are always looking for an opportunity to price gouge their customers, especially in these times. I was pleasantly suprised to be greeted by Randy, who I later realized was the owner. He told me exactly how long the Smog Test would take and when I should be back. I came back early as usual and my car was ready! In addition, they did have suggestions on battery replacement, which was needed but without the High Pressure, you need it now attitude.
When my next service was due I was encouraged to take my car back to Superior Automotive and the 60k service check price was more than competitive for my 2001 Toyota Tacoma which had just broke the 219k mark. Overall I'm a happy camper and I would recommend this shop any of my friends.
I give this outfit a top-drawer rating. Were they the cheapest? No, but I know the going rate at other shops (I'm big on comparison-shopping), for what I had them do, and they weren't anywhere near what some other shops would have charged.
I had what turned out to be a bad motor-mount. They diagnosed it quickly (while I waited), and ordered the part that day. When the part came in, I dropped the car off and when I picked it up at the end of the day, the problem was solved. Find the problem, fix it, don't gouge me on the price or work that doesn't need to be done. THAT's what I want from a repair shop and that's exactly what I got.
Yep. I'll be going back when my car needs work (hopefully not too soon).
