Love their Marilyn Monroll...but I REALLY love their 12 o'clock (it's basically a couple of decorated raw oysters) which is my #1 reason to go to Mikuni. ;)
Convenient location next to the movie theaters on Eureka and ample parking. Crowded sometimes, but only during hours that you'd expect most restaurants to be busy. Friendly staff, lively atmosphere, specialty rolls are a little on the pricey side.
Mikuni is great for the mainstream crowd looking for "Americanized" sushi, meaning specialty rolls. However, if you're looking for an authentic "Traditional" sushi restaurant...don't go to Mikuni. You'll be disappointed. Their nigiri and sashimi really isn't that good.
My wife and I went to Mikuni Roseville for the first time in a while tonight. We normaly eat at Akebono just down the road but we wanted to just give it a try due to their popularity.
Well, we wont be trying "new" things for a while. The spider roll (normaly one of our favorites) had this old chicken nugget look to it and was kept under what looked like a heat lamp. It totaly turned us off and we left without venturing further. Not cool.
great sushi, but you can get just as good at Akebono for way less $$. mikuni is too expensive. plus, akebono has way less of a wait time and the head shef (from Japan) is very kind and friendly at the sushi bar. akebono is definitely better than mikuni
