I go there all the time. This resturaunt is great for the everyday sushi consumption. I wouldn't take a date there. The owner is very nice. However, I consider myself a slender person but it seems like whatever I order they say things like "oh..are you sure that is a lot of food for you" or they say "you look so tired" which somehow rubs me the wrong way. Since sushi is my comfort food, I am eating it because I am in a fragile state. Maybe I am too sensitive.
I just gotta start off by saying that I REALLY love sushi! I've been to many sushi joints in the greater Sacto area (including all the Mikuni's and the once beloved Yoshi's - moment of silence, please...), yet I still come back to this one. It's a "hole-in-the-wall", but sometimes the best food comes from these places and there's no exception here. The fish is always fresh. Nigiri fish to rice ratio is generous. The salmon is truly delectable. The shrimp tempura is light and has great flavor. My favorite rolls are the Tiger and Godzilla. The best part is the price is reasonable, especially given the high quality. I highly recommend Izumi.
this place is awesome my husband and I go almost once a week! staff is always friendly and the rolls are great!

That is the eastern way they are brought up. They do not have the same social rules in their upbringing. My pedicure salon staff also makes comments about my age, weight, etc. and although I can tell they do not mean anything by it - it sometimes upsets me when I have gone there for a "getaway" from stress. I would say something next time and let them know - I am sure they have no idea it is offensive to you.
