The art includes the Gold Rush, Victorian and European masters and contemporary works. The museum hosts art talks, classical concerts, jazz concerts, and tours (afternoons and weekends). Even the building is art!: Simply, THE most beautiful museum I've been to. Great CA art, stunning building, and a wonderful area.
Dark Metropolis *enlightens*: My husband and I recently attended the "Dark Metropolis" exhibit by artist, Irving Norman. A little morbid to some, the art was extremely detailed and attractive to the eye. The colored paintings were beautiful but the black and white ones were awesome too. I highly reccomend spending an afternoon here and reflecting on our culture in Norman's perspective.
Great experience: When I moved to Sacramento, there was a Mexican exhibition at the Museum. My experience was great. I not only got to see the Mexican Art, but the museum itself. Since then, I'm a regular visitor, specially when they have a special foreign exhibition.
