We went for breakfast twice in two days, because the first day was so great. The second day the food was good when it finally arrived, but our waiter needed to be fired on the spot. So.... good breakfast, decent prices, but I think it matters a lot who your waiter is whether you'll be happy. Sitting in a back corner where you can't grab someone as they go by is not recommended after our second day. We'll go back there when we go to Sac.
Judging from the other reviews, I'm not sure I went to the same place. After living in England for many years, I can say the Fox and Goose is as close to being authentically British as Madonna's accent when she was married to Guy Ritchie. The dark and dingy atmosphere should be avoided by anyone suffering from depression. The over priced food is mediocre at best. Seriously, how can a "British Pub" serve such unrecognizable and bland fish & chips? Service seems to be a low priority as well. The wait staff appear to have taken their cues from the stereotype of Parisian waiters. Actually, I don't recall being served with such indifference anywhere as we were at the Fox and Goose.
I love The Fox and Goose: The SCONES are what make this place special! Baked fresh daily, they really make the breakfast sing here. The English Pub is great too - tons of beers to choose from and I love the posters on the walls.
