This resturant is fantastic! I was looking for a place that wasn't a chain resturant where I could take my mom for her birthday.
It was authentic, and eclectic. The service was wonderful and so was the food.
We had the Cheese platter for an appitizer, and it was delicious. My mom and sister had the prime rib and said it was wonderful.
The resturant accomidated my husband with a vegatarian pasta that wasn't even on the menu, it was awesome! We all had salad too. The beat salad was very good, like no other salad we had before. YUM!
And the organic greens was just as good.
We will definetly be going back there to dine. It was located on the river in old town sacramento.
I recommend this place.
Great Food, Great Setting, Unique Experience: I was looking for a unique setting to take my out of town relatives for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Boy did I find it! There were seven of us all together (including 2 children and an infant). We arrived just before 1pm and there was plenty of availability even without a reservation. We went in mid-September, so you may want to call ahead.
We decided on getting a couple of Appetizers: The Spinach and Artichoke Dip
served with housemade crostinis for 7.95 and the Dungeness Crab Cakes
over roasted red pepper coulis with a grilled corn salad and balsamic drizzle for $11.95. They were both outstanding and everyone loved them...including the kids!
For the main course I had the Marinated Chicken Sandwich
with jack cheese, wild arugula and a basil aioli on grilled focaccia for $8.95. My wife had the Asian Chicken Salad with grilled chicken, napa cabbage, carrots and red cabbage with mandarin oranges, wontons, rice noodles and sesame seeds for $10.95. My relatives decided on the Chopped Shrimp Cobb Salad with romaine hearts, rock shrimp, gorgonzola cheese, bacon, tomatoes and egg with creamy blue cheese dressing for $11.95. They even had peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches for the kids!! Everyone just loved their meal!
Also, I should note that they offer Wine Flights for $11.00. I tried the Cabernet Flight and received three 1.5 oz. samples of Mondavi, Berringer, and another that I did't like. They were all 2000 and the Mondavi was best followed by the Berringer.
The setting is fantastic. The Delta King is rich in history, it's like being transported back in time. After your meal, be sure to "explore" the ship. There is a bar and cafe upstairs from the Pilothouse that also serves similar menu items but is less formal but there is a larger outside seating section. Located on the Sacramneto river, you also get to watch all of the boats go by.
