I do all my grocery shopping here. As a patron, I love it. It has everything I need and more. I love that everything I try here is relatively healthy and there is such a wide selection of healthier foods. Also, the wellness section is great and the staff is knowledable. When I have an ailement and I am not exactly sure what to take to heal it, the staff have guided me in the right direction every time.
I like whole foods just as much, but they are more expensive. Both places are great and I'm so glad we have them in our community.
I really like to coop. True it is expensive but not as expensive as Whole Foods (AKA whole paycheck). The produce is excellent, but make sure you read the prices before buying. Some of it is way over priced. The fish is excellent if you can afford fish these days and it is always sustainably harvested.
Some items such as Bronw Cow yogurt and organic milk are less expensive than other Grocery stores.
As a former employee who worked at the Alhambra store I can say this place is no Co-op. I was treated quite hostile manner by the entrenched Gay Female management team there. I worked as a salad chef and arrived for work at 5:30am every morning for three years but was fired for no reason. They tried to use tardiness against me but were unable so they fabricated a lie and fired me. The union did nothing for me but take my dues that the management made sure I paid every week. Funny thing is the same people are managing the store. They waisted millions on refurbishing the store but they did not improve the store. I could write a chapter on the sound system they waisted the co-op's cash on while a managers husband made lots of cash farting around the store installing shelf's. I am curious if this review gets buried, I bet it does. I intend to make a documentary on just how bad and un co-op like that store is. How much does it cost to bury a bad review?
