I am also a student at Federico's. My favorite part was the classes, but when I had to take clients on the studio floor the teachers are HORRIBLE. Miss Caitlin is the only good teacher on the floor, and thats only because she is from a Federico son's salon. No wonder they have them on the studio floor and not the classrooms! They are always telling us to "hurry up" ..i thought we were learning??
i am currently attending FBI and i just have to say that i LOVE it! i was so close to going to Marinello or Paul mitchell but I ended up stumbling across FBI's website which completely changed my mind. Their videos about the school and pivot point are really what sold me. I called in and set up a tour and met with Judy Rasberry, who is soooo sweet by the way. They were able to interview me, set up financial aide, and enroll me all in one day. I went to orientation a week later and then started the following week. I am truely pleased with the education ive been recieving so far in my women's hairsculpting class. They provide teaching through both book work, video, and hands on which really helps for all different types of learners. they provide great quality supplies for their students. I really don't understand where all these negative reviews are coming from because i have yet to find anything bad about this school. I guess maybe theyre bitter about the dress code or tardiness policy? if you are passionate about what you want to do in this industry and have the drive to get what you want out of it, then you will do just fine. It's the students who don't care and think that they aren't going to have to work for their education who have problems. Don't listen to them! Federico Beauty Institute is an AMAZING school i swear!
After reading some of these comments I feel compelled to write a review myself. Federico Beauty Institute is a great school, but it will be what you make of it. The fact is, FBI is a business, and all businesses have their issues. No matter what school you go to, there will always be something to complain about. Yes, this school is a little pricey, but it's not the most expensive one in the area, either. The way I looked at it when I was searching for a Beauty College was that you get what you pay for, and I've definitely found that to be true. I like the way the FBI curriculum is set up as compared to the other schools I checked out. I feel it is structured in a way that it makes it much easier to fully understand and master the technique than if I was only receiving an hour or two a day of instruction. As for the instructors, on the whole, they are wonderful, nurturing people. There are a few that have personalities that come off as abrasive... Unfortunately, that's inevitable. I don't think there is a single school in the nation that doesn't have at least one instructor that rubs people the wrong way. But the other instructors more than make up for the difficult ones. The instructors are passionate about their jobs, both as Cosmetologists and as Educators, and if you are willing to listen and do the work, they will teach you everything you need to know to pass the State Board exam and get you started in your career.
I'm the first to admit that FBI has it's issues, even I get frustrated with the school on occasion, but the pros of this school more than make up for any cons, and if I were to do it all over again, I would absolutely choose this school over any other school. I know that when I graduate, I'll be leaving Federico with everything I need to get started on my career, and I know that there will be a job waiting for me in a high end salon once I get my license.
If you are a prospective student reading these reviews, don't get scared off by the negative ones, go to all the schools, take the tour and talk to the students. Talk to a variety of students, you'll get a better idea of what it's like. Check out the educators, and when you're looking in on the classes, notice how they interact with their students. You'll find the school that will suit you best.
