when we arrived we were to find a seat in the back and someone will be with us. we waited awhile and i got up and got the menu myself then they finaly brought us the chips and salsa. the salsa tasted like hot tomato sauce and the chips were gross. we asked for a margarita and they never brought it back to us. the waitress (owner) came took our order and the food took kinda long to get to us. when we finally got our order the Nachos were WAY gross. The cheese looked like something from 7-11 and the steak was cold. My friends shrimp were smaller than shrimps should be and they were way over cooked. We let the waitress know that we were not happy with our food and she was glad to take the food from us but at the same time she said she never has complaints about anything. Then she made sure that she went around to every customer loudly to ask how was their food and was everything okey. This was not the lunch we expected.

I have been going to 524 on 12th street since the 50's. Great before fire and remodel, now just another mexican restaurant. We won't go back ever again. We also started going to Northgate location when it opened. Always excellent food (every time) Took many friends and family there. Wonderful ladies that take good care of customers. Old, familiar and just like grandma's kitchen. The cook always had the best smile through the little opening in the back wall. First place we eat when we come home from vacation. Best soup in the world (you can ad a tablespoon of beer for extra flavor) NOW FOR THE BAD PART..When they told me they were moving locations I said please take your old pots and pans, utencils, and the cook because the food will not taste the same with new fancy pots and pans. Aparently they did not listen. They have now moved to a new fancy, upscale facility with a bar and big screen TV's so everyone can watch sports while they waiting for their food. With the echo from cement floors, TV's blaring and to much open space, it is a little noisy in both areas. My family of 10 took me there for my 68th birthday because it has always been by favorite restaurant, it was terrible. Poor service, had to wait for water, chips and salsa were prompt, took for ever to take our order. Some food came cold, one plate completely wrong, the food was bland and not at all up to par, soup only warm, only half the order came out at one time and my son-in-law (and daughter were paying the bill) never did get his meal. He finally told them to cancel his, he said he would eat when he got home... In defense of the restaurant we all had mexican food and he had a hamburger with fries (maybe they had to go to McDonalds across the street to get it and got lost on the way back). It would have been much easier to just say we do not have hamburgers. End result warm, bland, not tasty food. Birthday dinner ruined. Most of us left the largest part of our meals. OH yeah, corn tortillas were great, along with chips, salsa and water when it finally came. I will not give them another chance, I have given them three already at the new location, we are done. Hey if you know where we can get a good mexican dinner, with a little good music on the jukebox...let us know. thanks for listening.

I THINK THIS RESTAURANT IS BETTER THAN THE 524 ON 12TH.
