    The food is some of the best I've had. Unlike most chinese restaurants where every dish seems to share the same taste, all of Fred's dishes are unique and flavorful. General's chicken, pork chow fun, pot stickers, hot and sour soup are some of my favorites..

    I will agree with the other reviewers that the service is not four star and parking is rough. As to the parking issue: it's Nevada City people. Park at one of the parking areas and walk there. As to the service: the waitresses we have had are always clean, friendly, and helpful with menu suggestions. That's good enough for us.
    The restaurant has a fantastic vegetarian menu that features traditional Chinese 'mock' meats. When my wife and I go out to dinner at most restaurants we are usually left out of the best dishes because most restaurants neglect their vegetarian patrons. Not Fred's. Even the soups are veg-friendly. We'll keep returning as long as Fred's is open.

    Fred's is the best Chinese restaurant in the area. The food is affordable (especially for Nevada City!) and is consistently good. Definitely try the General's Chicken and the Cream Cheese Rangoons!
