I posted a review of ANOTHER local subway shop and rated it as one only because I didn't think it would take zero as a score. These guys get a 5 because the manager cares and took charge of a problem. I was looking for the 2 for 1 deal they were promoting on Sunday. the week previously I asked one of the people who worked there if that deal was still in effect and he said he didn't know BUT WOULD FIND OUT! -- a counter person who is probably working at or close to the minimum wage actually CARED ABOUT CUSTOMERS! -- and he did find out for me!!!

Previously I'd gone in at about 7:45 PM and they close at 8:00 PM. Apparently the concept of closing and going home were not clear to the young lady who appeared to be in charge. She told me they were closed. I pointed out that it was not 8 and she said it was. The clock in the office I was told was fast, and so, I guess, so was the radio show I was listening to -- ending about 15 minutes sooner than they'd expected. So I left and came back on Monday and spoke to the manager. I told her to review the tape -- and she would see them turn me away, and then her boyfriend (my assumption, it could have been her brother she was particularly close to) came in and they made three sandwiches, did not ring them up, called another person out of the office who she may have told to clean up -- I was watching from across the parking lot wondering if the WERE closed, why all the food was still out -- and she walked out the door about 7:55 with her male companion, leaving the other worker there to clean up by himself. A few days later I went in and found the young lady who'd left early not in sight. I caught a whisper that I was the guy who got her 'fired'. So the manager not only took charge of the situation, she offered me two free sandwiches to make up for the two I didn't get the day before (which I declined). Once they were out of one of their breads, and the counter person said - they are only about 3 or 4 minutes from being done, so if you don't mind one not being perfectly cooked, I'll pull one from the oven for you, and make your sandwich on that -- but it might be a little soft -- or I could choose another bread or wait a little longer for the bread to finish cooking and cool a little before being served. I chose two other breads. Now that is service. A manager who cares about what her employees do when she's not there, and a salesperson who cared enough about the customer that he would pull the bread early -- but warned me that it might be soft and not 'set' as you would any kind of fresh bread. While it's all pre-portioned, I was treated with respect and ALMOST felt like I was getting a 'little extra' though of course this would be impossible with pre-weighed pre-portioned ingredients. when I said -- I'd like everything -- and if you feel you need to stop to ask me if I want some of this or that, you might as well double it -- and unlike other subways I've been to, I was not asked several times through the process -- would I like onions, or salt, or pepper, or hot peppers -- they understood English and made the sandwich without me having to hold their hand all the way through the process,

This subway is at the end of the building which houses the video store and faces the supermarket and The Wooden Spoon, a kitchen implement store. So, this store was clean, the service fast and courteous, I was not treated oddly -- and the one problem that I did have on a previous visit had been (I'm guessing here since I don't know) immediately addressed in what I felt was an appropriate manner -- lying to a customer to get out of work is not a good work ethic. I recommend this one over the other subway. In fact, for reasons stated in that review, I would not eat there --- ever.
