Great place to go if you want authentic Indian cousin. Service has always been great every time I have been there. My first visit I had no clue what anything was let alone I wanted. They were quick offer suggestions and pointed out that I could have items in either extra spicy, hot or mild. I quickly became a fan. If you want to try something new, I highly recomend Taste of India!

Great Food, Mediocre Presentation: Admittedly, I am spoiled. I come from the East Coast where the Indian restaurants I frequent have linen tablecloths and napkins and authentic Indian waiters bowing at your table. Taste of India had none of this, but nevertheless, the main course was one of the best Indian dishes I've ever had.

The restaurant is located in an unassuming strip mall and is nothing to look at. Still, I entered and was taken immediately by the spicy aroma which is common to Indian restaurants. The decor is an Indian version of a Stuckey's - not too impressive, and not the surroundings for a romantic dinner.

I ordered a lamb dish dinner which came with salad, vegetable samosa appetizer, naan, and the lamb entree. The salad was unimpressive. The samosa, though tasty, appeared on an undecorated and ungarnished simple plate (owners, please note that a little garnish goes a long way and is not costly). The sauces for the samosa came in rather IHOPish dispensers, but the sauces themselves were EXCELLENT.

At this point, I was sure I would never visit this restaurant again; however, then the entree arrived. When I ordered, the waitress asked if I would like the dish "mild", "medium" or "spicy" - a choice that the Indian restaurants back East don't usually give me. I opted for "medium". DANG! That was one of the best tasting Indian dishes I ever had! Though again, no garnish (owners, please take note!).

The service was very attentive, though the place was not very busy early (5:00 P.M.) on a Sunday night. My only gripe with the service is that the waitress presented me with the check within three minutes of presenting me with my entree. Some may like that, but it made me feel rushed.

Overall, I'd say that if I lived in Yuba City, I would probably visit this restaurant a few times each year based on the deliciousness of the food, but I would not go here for special occasions since the atmosphere leaves a bit to be desired. Again, owners please take note. There is much you can do at little cost to increase the experience of your customers.
