| About: | The Spanish-style building of Pio Loco was Redding's first grammar school. Remodeled 70 years after its construction, the unique cuisine transcends typical Mexican food and decor, with specialties and menu selections of salads, stuffed portabella mushrooms, filets of halibut, mahi-mahi, ono, petrale sole, orange roughly, swordfish, thresher shark, ahi, carnitas pork, crab enchiladas and assorted meats. The wine list is among the most extensive in the area. |

Over-hyped. Snooty service. Pretentious atmosphere. Modest portions, boring recipes and who the heck really cares about "homemade" Sangria?!?! There are many better-values to be had elsewhere!
My husband & I have eaten here a few times and with each visit the food has been GREAT! You must try the specialty drinks, too! Chef Jeff's Sangria is AMAZING! The location, ambiance and decor are very relaxing and enjoyable.
Support your local restaurateurs!
The food and service are far superior to the frozen food - microwavabullcrap meal chains on Dana Drive!
Wonderful building. New menu (my last visit was 8-20-08), they went to an ala' carte menu and the prices have really shot up, maybe too high. That said, the Halibut taco's are excellant! I noticed the lunch portions were about the same, so the tacos at lunch are a better value. They service really yummy bread at dinner time. Give this non-chain place a try, this guy knows how to cook! Support an all local business.............they are good with groups too.
