We were three ladies in Tahoe for the weekend looking for a relaxing good time. We were sitting outside with our feet in the sand listening to great music and enjoying the rum runners. It was perfect. The view was great and the people were fun. We stayed later to have some dinner and the clam chowder was delish. I would recommend the Beacon to anybody who is looking for a casual good time. The food was a little pricey but the atmosphere was well worth it.
We were recommended to go to the Beacon by two different set of friends- they both said it was fantastic food. We will tell our friends of our experience and that the Beacon has definitely changed. When we arrived, the bar had a band playing metal/alternative music that was so loud we couldn't hear anything. Then they piped in music in the dining room ontop of the metal band playing. It was so LOUD! Once we were seated by a nice window seat, we noticed all the dead flies in the window sill. We kindly asked the waitress to clean the window of the dead flies. She was a perturbed by having to brush the dead carcuses onto the floor beneath us. Flies were out of control, had to brush them away the whole dinner. I think we killed 2-3 during the meal as well. Seafood linguine was delivered lukewarm and full of sand. It was one of the worst dining experiences we have had! Not only totally overpriced food for what was served but the overall cleaniness and dining experience were so disappointing. We would never return even if for a free meal. Poor service from servers too.
Perhaps the Beacon was once a great restaurant in its day but on this Beautiful afternoon it was a complete disgusting and disappointing dining experience. I'm sure for drinks at the bar it would be fun but if you're looking for a nice dinner to sit down at, keep on travelling down the road PAST the Beacon.
My wife and I were married at The Riva Grill two years ago and we loved our wedding and the Riva. For our second anniversary, we were back in Tahoe to celebrate. We heard that The Beacon was owned and managed by the same people that own The Riva Grill. We were excited to have a nice, romantic dinner together, we couldn't be more dissapointed. The Beacon's appetizer/soup/salads were below average and our entrees were awful. As we drove back to our hotel, my wife and I discussed how dissapointed we were with dinner and how it was the worst $100 we have ever spent. We wouldn't go back for a free meal. The Beacon should only be a bar, if anything at all.
