blah: Only place that was open for a semi late night delivery. It still tasted gross even though we were all hammered.
delivery charge??: I have always thought this Domino's has about the best pizza in South Lake Tahoe. However, tonight they left a bad taste in my mouth. After ordering pizza, I was told the cost including a delivery charge. I ask the young man on the phone if that was new. He said yes. I ask him if the delivery charge went to the driver, he said yes. I ask him again to make sure and he said yes the delivery charge goes to the driver. No big deal, they deserve that and more. So, the driver gets here (it's around 10 degrees outside). The pizza is hot and on time. I give him a tip and ask about the new delivery charge. He looks at me with a puzzled look. I ask him if the drivers get the delivery charge. He told me NO! When he sees that I am surprised, he tries to recover (and cover his boss) by telling me he thinks he gets it in mileage. Didn't Domino's pay these drivers mileage before they charged a delivery charge?
I hate being lied to!!
This means that Domino's has raised it's prices and calls it something else. That makes your price menus and 'specials' pretty much BS. If you are going to raise your prices, just raise them. I would pay and extra $1.50 for your pizza. But, if you are going to charge a delivery charge give it to the people who deliver your product. Give it above and beyond their mileage pay, especially if that is how you represent it to your paying customers.
Your misrepresented $1.50 delivery charge may have just cost you a steady customer.
signed,

Dominos has always paid drivers mileage. The delivery charge was added basically so the menu prices wouldn't change while compensating for higher food and labor costs. The drivers don't get any additional mileage commission because of the delivery fee. Yes, I agree, it's lame. Dominos was built on "Free Delivery" and they've totally messed up a reputation 30 years in the making.
