| About: | In California, tourists visit the wineries; in Hawaii they tour the coffee plantations. Kauai's largest coffee grower offers free tours around the estate. Visitors sip the finished product, wander among the coffee trees, and learn from the experts how coffee gets to the cup. This company is located on the Koloa Estate, a 3,400-acre estate that is known for its red dirt and pesticide-free practices. |

The Ultimate Kauai Guidbook trashed this place, but my wife and I enjoyed their coffee. They have about 20 different varieties to sample while you are visiting. The short self guilded garden tour is interesting. I found the harvester especially interesting. I thought several of the coffees were quite good, although I am not a coffee snob by any means. It's about $7 for a 10oz bag, which happens to be the same everywhere on the island for this brand. Costco has larger bags, but I don't recall the price or flavor. Not sure I would have gone out of my way to stop, but worth 15 minutes if you are driving by anyway.
