Maybe for pan dulce, a dulce de leche, a glass of horchata or a coconut paleta.
Sometimes I have a craving for their delicious beans with melted cheese and a bolillo. The store is bright, cheerful and full of fun things to buy from Mexico
and Latin America. It's the funnest store in Kings Beach!-

I am going there tonite!: I have been going to La Mexicana since they first opened. It is the only place on North Lake Tahoe where you can get healthy food in large portions with great service at a low price. The meat is very tasty and the vegetables are fresh. Your food is made on the spot. I am very happy coming here. Tonite I'll be eating a few carne asada tacos at their restaurant, then buy some fresh vegetables and authentic mexican sweetbreads in their grocery section before going home from work. I'll relax at home knowing I made a wise decision stopping there.
User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsFantastic Carne Asada !: I've eaten here 33 times, and I keep forgetting to order something other than the Carne Asada burrito. Actually, one time I did order a chile relleno (which was in fact, the single best relleno I've had *outside* of New Mexico) but still, my heart did not love the relleno. No! My heart was preoccupied with the Carne Asada... so spicy and so flavorful. And unusually tender for asada. Just excellent! During the summer, there are tables available outside, but as an FYI there's not a ton of seating - so either go at an off-peak time, or be prepared to order your meal to go. Luckily, Kings Beach state park is only about 2 blocks away.
