| About: | Hailed by some as the finest healthy gourmet in Hawaii, this cozy little cottage cafe is a favorite among visitors and locals alike. It offers fusion cuisine with an emphasis on seafood and vegetarian options. Customer service is another specialty of the quaint cafe, and staff members will see to it that guests feel at home in the vintage-style dining room. Though there is no lunch, breakfast is served until the late morning hours every day. The casually elegant spot takes on a more formal atmosphere during dinner hours. Blackened ahi is one of the more popular entrees; taro fritters are a distinctly local pupu and well worth sampling. |

I have been to Kauai at least ten times and never had gone to Postcards. To my surprise it was very good. The menu was different sort of vegetarian with a lot of thought for people who eat healthy. I would eat at Postcards again.
Not what it seems: Expensive!
Local foods and vegetarian specialties drew me in, but I was dissapointed. Service was slow, our waitress left during our dinner and didn't let us know--we had to go find someone to order dessert and pay our bill.
Ordered: Francesca (veg puttanesca) not very creative or exciting, but an accurate portion for the price. The other veg option was some tofu stir fry. I'm sorry but I've been veg for a long time and if a place markets itself as vegetarian friendly, there should be more than two choices, especially when they are the stereotypical "pasta" and 'veg stir-fry". Vegetarians really eat much more diversely. I hate that we are categorized into eating with limitations. You want decent veg food for a good price? go to tropical taco. it's simple and delicious.
Also ordered: Pupu platter. Not much food for the price. Taro fritters were yummy, wasabi ahi was delicious but it was only two bites. Seafood rocket things were very fishy and very fried.
Would not return unless they really revamped the veg cuisine. It is an expensive SEAFOOD restaurant. Entrees seem like a creative combo of flavors, if you like fish. At least it's local fish.
Dessert: Chocolate volcano. Again, tiny portion. But it was tasty!
