| About: | The Crouching Lion Inn is located in the beach town of Kaa??aa??awa on the windward side of Oa??ahu. Nestled against the Koa??olau Mountains and fronted with the Pacific Ocean, the Crouching Lion Inn is one of the Islanda??s most treasured scenic spots. Named after a towering natural rock formation shaped like a lion behind the restaurant, the building was built in 1927 as a private residence. The place was later converted to an inn for travelers and a restaurant has been operating here for nearly 60 years. A Hawaiian legend claims that the lion or dog (ilio) was once a deity named Kauahi (Watch Tower of Heaven). He longed to travel and see the rest of the island. When the goddess Hia??iaka (sister of Pele) sang a beautiful song to him, he pleaded to join her but she could not allow it. Kauahi was vexed and tried to stand up and shake the tree roots that held him but he managed only to make it up to a crouching position. In that position he still is today no longer grudgingly keeping task but proud and majestic he sits keeping vigil over the town and itsa?? visitors. In the spring of 2008, the facilities underwent extensive renovations and re-opened in July under new ownership and management. The restaurant boasts an unobstructed Pacific Ocean view from our outside lanai, bar and banquet room. And there is something for everyone on our menu, from burgers and fresh salads to mahi-mahi and top sirloin steak. Some of our specialties include furikake crab cakes, Thai chili shrimp and a Brazilian Bahia fish and shrimp stew. Also on the menu are local favorites Kalua Pork and Cabbage and Hamburger Steak with brown gravy. Lunch is served from 11am to 5pm and dinner from 5pm to 10pm. We have a full bar with weekly happy hour drink specials and our wine list was created by our in house sommelier. Our tropical drinks menu includes favorites such as Pina Colada, Mai Tai, Margarita as well as our Hawaiian Geckos! Non-alcoholic mango, passion fruit and other fruit smoothies are also popular. Live Hawaiian music and other events are regularly performed at the location. Pool tables, Karaoke and other entertainment venues are available also. Special events such as wedding receptions can be booked for our Kahana Dining Room overlooking Kahana Bay. Tour groups are welcomed with large dining facilities, parking for vans and buses, ample restrooms, gift shop and art gallery and plenty of a??alohaa?? spirit and greetings. Special buffet menus are available for regular tours. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, JCB and China Union Pay credit/debit cards. |
