| About: | More than just a restaurant or nightspot, this place is an attraction in its own right. Guests can take a tour through the brewery and end in the tasting room, where a selection of the brewery's eight varieties of beer and ale are available to sample. The free tours run from 10:30a - 3p Monday through Friday. The restaurant/bar portion is a large, friendly place where hefty, gregarious locals serve pizzas, salads, sandwiches and of course, frosty mugs of beer. For an educational and delicious experience, be sure to check out Kona Brewing Company and you'll be sure to leave satisfied. |

Great food, even for non-drinkers: I don't drink, but I love the food. Highly recommend the pizza, the chicken pololu and porthouse dip sandwiches and the quesadillas. Outside seating: lit torches at night, large "spool" tables, surrounded by local greenery, can get pretty hot when the wind dies. Indoor seating: air conditioned, tables and bar dinning, can get pretty noises. They can make your food to go if you can find a spot to dine. Nice, clean bathrooms (everything but the doors are automatic).
Must try this pizza!: This restaurant is not easy to find in Kona and parking can be a challenge. Once you are there, it is worth it. The pizza choices are unique and unusual, but there should be choices for everyone's tastes.
The Beer is Cold, The Food is Hot: I enjoy the Kona Brewing Company's beer very much. The beer has won many awards and continues to win at competitions on the mainland and abroad. The menu at the Kailua Kona pub is a little different from the one in Honolulu (Hawaii Kai). I wish they had the crab cakes in Kona! I too would like to see french fries, perhaps baked, added to the menu. I don't care for the chips. The management team is super and handles busy crowds with finesse and aloha. It's true that you may have to wait, but when you take your first bite of one of their wonderful sandwiches or hearty pizzas, you'll forget about the wait. The beer complements the menu. Can't decide what beer goes with which menu item? Ask someone! The staff is trained to help you (I asked!). Servers are friendly, funny, and so helpful. The owners and upper management of this restaurant should be proud of the fact that this pub is known for using local, fresh ingredients whenever possible. It's one of the few businesses in Hawaii that are holding on to traditional Hawaiian values. The view in Hawaii Kai is lovely. In Kona, the ambience is more local pub, not much of a view, but still a great atmosphere. The concerts that I've attended at Kona Brewing Company, including Johnny Lang, Collective Soul, Everclear, Gin Blossoms, and local acts have all been very special times that I can kick back, have a beer, and really enjoy good music and sharing fun times with my buddies. I love Kona Brewing Company's concept and I hope their success continues. You've missed a very special part of Kona if you don't visit here.
