   MoreThe mission of Hawaii Island Humane Society is to prevent cruelty to animals, eliminate pet overpopulation, and enhance the bond between humans and animals. We provide shelter and care for abandoned, lost and unwanted pets, and try to find new homes for the thousands of animals that enter our shelters every year. We also reunite lost pets with their owners through our lost and found service and promoting different forms of identification, including licensing and microchipping. We work to educate the public about responsible care of animals and work for better legislation to protect the people and pets of our Island. We offer 24 hour emergency service and accept any animal at any time for no charge. We never close our doors to any animal in need. Our 3 shelters, located in Keaau, Waimea and Kailua-Kona, have receiving kennels available to take in animals after-hours.
