| About: | While the minimalist Pacific Rim trend is all the rage with tourists; the locals mainly Hawaiians, Polynesians and Tongans especially like their meals to be simple, cheap and HUGE. This place gives the people what they want, and has been very successful at it. The menu features all the favorites, pork lau lau, loco moco, chicken katsu and kalua pork. All meals feature large portions of meat, two scoops of rice, macaroni salad and potato salad. Sandwiches and soup are also served. There are two other locations on Maui, but both are take-out operations. |

Stopped here after driving the Hana highway and had the pulled pork. The storefront place was packed, mainly with locals, but if your idea of pork is shaped by mainland barbecue, this will be a real disappointment. No spices except a lot of salt, and to a mainland palate, quite flavorless.
My niece had their Kihei outlet provide pork for her wedding, and many of us had the same disappointment. Try it for an experiment, but be warned.
This is a tourist place.
It's below average for a 'plate lunch' place.
The real plate lunch places cater to working people.
The portions are huge. The price is fair. It's the only place that I know of that serves 'kalua pig' every day of the week.
Sideways thumb...at best.
The Korean chix is awesome. If you happen to be there when it's the special do not hesitate to order it. The staff is very friendly and very easy on the eyes. I definetly recommend this place.
