Mamas Fish House was at a beatiful location, if we would have only just enjoyed the views, vs. ordering lunch. The waitress was great at making the food sound like it would be good, she encouraged us to start with a fish cheek appetizer, which sounded great. The fish cheek turned out to be a deep fried.. yuk⦠fish skull. We never did find the tender cheeks, however the sauce was great, just a bottled sauce. wow how creative. We only ordered one meal as it sounded large and we did not want to be over full for swimming. The meal arrived wrapped up a leaf very nice, however once we opened it there was about 3 pieces of pork, and a few pieces of fish I would say 2 oz. could be an over exaggeration. So if you are hungry donât go there, unless you are prepared to spend a lot of money for basically an over priced chef, who should learn about portions. So, Mama you will never see us there and I will do my best to tell all future travelers about your place.. Nice beach..
I am pretty disappointed. I do not mind spending high price for great food. But the food here was just overpriced for the average quality food that you can find in Maui at lower price. Service was below average for sure. And, we waited long to be seated, waited longer, at least half an hour, from the time we finished appetizer until the main dish came. The whole time, my ice tea was empty until I finally asked for the refill when the main dish was served. (not only our table, I thought other table were done for the main dish, but they were waiting for the main dish as we were.) Collection of the check $ was the fastest of all of the restaurants we went. It was my second time to Maui, went to several pricy restaurants, I have never written any review for any other restaurants ever, but this one, I had to warn others. Only satisfaction is the view. But again, you can get the great view at restaurants in Wailea or Kaanapali at lower price with better food, or same price with better food and great service.
The location is great. The food portions are big, but so are the prices. Other than the Fish being the freshest, there is nothing special about the menu.
This restaurant is very busy. Even with reservations, you will have to wait at the bar prior to being seated. You WILL feel very rushed throughout the entire meal.
